Festival De Cannes 2012: Do not Judge A Movie By The Crowds

Festival De Cannes 20012 : Do not judge a movie by the crowds | The last day before the announcement of the Golden Palm opened with the Mud film competition, by Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter). Tells on Ellis and neckbone two 14 years teenagers who was fascinated by a runaway, Mud (Matthew McConaughey) who was hiding on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River. Both are not only impressed with the Mud's macho, but also with the story of his escape plan with the Juniper, the dream girl.

Ellis was particularly fascinated with the love story of Mud and try to help Mud escape to meet his love. Ellis had just fallen in love and then start looking for the best examples of the adults around her. Love between uncle neckbone with her boyfriend, the love between her parents, and especially the love between Mud and Juniper. Ellis shadow naive about love make tried in every way to realize the Mud effort to unified with the Juniper to prove that love is something worth fighting for.

This story is written solely by Nichols peppered with action and adventure as Mark Twain worked well. As in Take Shelter, Nichols manages to make the audience sympathize with the characters, and believable as a part of everyday life. The film is right for teenagers to fill the holiday.

The film is selected as the closing film diacara announcement later was Thérèse Desqueyroux by French director Claude Miller. The classic story of an arranged marriage between Thérèse (Audrey Tautou) and Bernard (Gilles Lellouche) bourgeois heir two acres of land. Thérèse who grew up in the small village it is only natural to think this match and hope to be happy. But Thérèse did not feel happy and realized there was a lack of with the wedding when he heard the story of love and best friend's sister-in-law, Anne (Anais Demoustier) with Jean Azevedo (Stanley Weber).

Thérèse Desqueyroux novel of François Mauriac, winner of the Nobel Prize in literature. Thérèse Miller in the film described as a smart woman who is filled with ideas and radical thinking. But what kind of ideas or thoughts Thérèse was never explained, except that Thérèse enjoyed reading. It became the most prominent weakness in Desqueyroux Thérèse, Thérèse because ideas and thoughts are vital clues to his decision to rebel.

After Thérèse Desqueyroux, then ended up watching a marathon event is a major program for 12 days at the 65th Cannes Film Festival this year. Now is the period of waiting for the judges to decide to whom the award will be given.

There is a recurring phenomenon that has always been part of the excitement in Cannes. Although rarely can guess the outcome of the jury properly, yet the temptation to speculate can never be eliminated as part of the Cannes Movie Festival. But cheers, thunderous, booming applause never necessarily be a guarantee for a movie to win.

This year, it was noted, the film crew of the most inviting photographers and reporters flocked to get into the press room is: Lawless, Killing Them Softly, On The Road and Cosmopolis. The reason is more because of the superstars who played in the film. There Shia LeBeouf, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Brad Pitt, Kylie Minogue and many others. Journalists and photographers brush and elbow each other to get their photos or their signatures.

Acting is good and challenging role also determine whether an actor will hailed or ignored. Matthew McConaughey such as playing in two films entered this year's competition: The Paperboy and Mud. In The Paperboy, McConaughey plays a gay journalist who bullied heavily by local gangsters. When walking to the press room for The Paperboy, almost no one greets McConaughey and more attention directed to Zac Efron and Nicole Kidman.

This situation turned one hundred eighty degrees when McConaughey walked into the press room for the movie Mud. In this film, the actor plays a role as Mud, character escapes became the two teenage idol in the film. Everyone eagerly gave him a standing ovation and photographers clamored to ask for photos. Reese Witherspoon running with almost no attention at all.

The film is at least attracted the attention of journalists is In The Fog works of Sergei Loznitsa. This is reasonable because not many are familiar with the work of Loznitsa and the film does not show the actor-famous artists. But it does mean In The Fog did not have a chance to win? Of course not. Experience proves. In 2007, Mungiu and his team of 4 Months, 3 Weeks, 2 Days breezed not reprimanded. Reporters who attended the press conference can also be counted on the fingers. The same thing happened with Apichatpong Weerasethakul with Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives. Movie Golden Palm they have made a lot of journalists do not regret taking the time to chat with the two directors.

Which is also often happens is that many journalists do not feel the need to watch the movie competition that played at last. They chose to go home for sure, the last movie usually not very exciting and not win. This assumption makes many journalists Entre Les Murs fooled when Laurent Cantet's work was awarded the prestigious Golden Palm in 2008. Not much to watch the film because at final play, where nearly a third of journalists have left Cannes.

One thing is for sure, the greatness of a film will stick forever, with or without the award. The greatness of a movie will stay forever, with or without awards. See you at next year's Cannes Movie Festival.
